The papers mainly comprise the correspondence of Meg Denton of the Performing Arts Collection of South Australia. The purpose of these letters is to gain greater information about Mira Dimina (real name Madeline Parker), an American dancer who came to Australia on the first Ballets Russes (de Basil Ballet Company) tour in 1936. In Adelaide, Dimina performed in the ballets Le Beau Danube and the Prelude of Les Sylphides, for which she received critical acclaim. Having been unwell for some time, Dimina was diagnosed with leukemia and died within the week. She was buried in West Terrace Cemetry, Adelaide. The correspondence of Meg Denton also refers to a project, involving a benefit performance, to raise funds to restore Mira Dimina's grave. Other items in the collection include photographs, photocopies of newspaper clippings, theatre programmes and papers relating to the Mira Dimina and Student Dancers funds.
